The head coach of Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, Moses Aduku, has charged the country’s U-17 side, the Flamingos, to remain focused and united as they prepare for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Aduku visited the team’s camp in Abuja on Monday to deliver a motivational message to the players, urging them to play with belief and discipline as they aim to make history for Nigeria on the global stage.

The Falconets coach told the young players that their performance at the World Cup would not only shape their individual careers but also reflect the progress of Nigerian women’s football. He reminded them of the importance of teamwork and mental strength in major tournaments.

“You’ve worked hard to get to this point, now go out there and make yourselves and Nigeria proud,” Aduku said.

“Play with confidence, discipline, and the same hunger that has brought you this far.”

He also commended the technical crew led by Bankole Olowookere for the team’s impressive preparation.

The Flamingos have won all ten of their build-up matches, scoring 44 goals without conceding any. Aduku praised the players’ determination and described their perfect record as a sign of their readiness for the challenge ahead.

In a related development, Nigeria Football Federation Referee Assessor and Special Assistant to the NFF General Secretary, Ameenu Mohammed, visited the team to deliver a special session on the laws of the game.

He stressed the need for the players to combine skill with knowledge and discipline, noting that understanding the rules could make the difference in tight matches.

His session focused on recent changes in international football regulations and how awareness could prevent costly mistakes during high-pressure moments.

The Flamingos are scheduled to depart Nigeria on Wednesday (today) via Royal Air Maroc for Morocco, where they will fly the nation’s flag in the competition.

They have been drawn in Group D and will open their World Cup campaign against Canada on October 19, before facing France on October 22 and wrapping up the group stage against Samoa on October 25.

The team’s recent run of form and the morale-boosting visit from key figures in Nigerian football are expected to provide a strong psychological lift as the Flamingos aim to surpass their third-place finish from the 2022 edition in India.
