Iheanacho missing in Man. City victory over Steaua Bucharesti

By Daily Sports on August 17, 2016

Kelechi Iheanacho was missing in action as Manchester City thumped Steaua București 5-0 in their Champions League play-off first leg tie.

A treble from Sergio Aguero gave Pep Guardiola’s men an unassailable advantage going into the first leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Iheanacho alongside Joe Hart, Jesus Navas, and Fabian Delph were on the bench for the entire duration of the game with Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Fernando thrown into the fray in the second half.

The Nigerian played an important role for the Citizen in pre-season but is yet to be handed a starter’s shirt this season.

Against Sunderland in the English Premier League opener, he replaced Clichy in the 80th minute and strengthened his team’s attack as they secured a late victory against the Black Cats.

Though his future at the Etihad looks secured, he would be hoping to be given the nod when Manchester City travel to Stoke City for an English topflight encounter on Saturday.
