Victor Osimhen has scored his 17th goal of 2025, moving the Nigerian striker level with Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres in joint-third position among Europe’s top marksmen this calendar year.
The Galatasaray forward found the net against Samsunspor on Friday, continuing his impressive scoring run that now sees him ahead of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (14 goals) and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy (13 goals).
Only PSG’s Ousmane Dembele (24 goals) and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe (19 goals) have scored more goals than the Nigerian striker in 2025.
Osimhen’s latest goal came in Galatasaray’s crucial clash against Samsunspor at the Samsun 19 Mayis Stadium, where Okan Buruk’s men were looking to maintain their three-point lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig table following their recent derby defeat to Besiktas.
The 25-year-old has been in remarkable form since January, beginning 2025 with a goal against Gotzepe in a 2-1 victory on January 4. He followed this with strikes against Hatayspor, Dynamo Kyiv, Konyaspor and Ajax before the end of the month.
February saw Osimhen bag a brace against Rizespor in a 2-1 win and another goal in a 2-2 draw with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.
March proved particularly fruitful for the Super Eagles star as he netted twice in a 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa, scored in a 2-1 win over Alanyaspor, and completed a stunning hat-trick in Galatasaray’s 4-0 demolition of Antalyaspor.
The striker has maintained his scoring touch in April, netting twice in a vital 2-1 triumph over title rivals Fenerbahce before today’s strike against Samsunspor.
Osimhen’s impressive tally now stands at 29 goals and five assists across all competitions this season.
In the Turkish Super Lig alone, he has netted 21 times and provided four assists, while also contributing six goals and one assist in the Europa League, and two goals in the Turkish Cup.
His scoring prowess has proven crucial for Galatasaray as they pursue the Turkish Super Lig title, especially following their first league defeat of the season in the recent Istanbul derby against Besiktas, which reduced their lead at the top to just three points ahead of second-placed Fenerbahce.
The Nigeria international’s consistent goal-scoring form continues to draw attention from Europe’s elite clubs as speculation about his future beyond his loan spell in Turkey intensifies.
