Taiwo Awoniyi will undergo a late fitness test as his club, Nottingham Forest will look to build on their midweek victory when they make the trip to face Brentford on Saturday.

The Nigerian helped Forest end an 11-match winless run by toppling Brighton at the City Ground on Wednesday night. They now head to the Gtech Community Stadium with Awoniyi a huge doubt.

The 25-year-old took a heavy blow to the shoulder when he landed on it in the first half of Wednesday’s victory. He stayed on until the 80th minute but had strapped on the injury afterward.

Forest head coach Steve Cooper says Awoniyi is 50-50 for Saturday’s game.

“Taiwo took a really bad bang to his shoulder. We will see where he’s at,” said Cooper ahead of the

Awoniyi had just returned to action at the start of April after missing nine Premier League games following a groin injury he suffered during Forest’s victory at Southampton in January.

The Super Eagle scored the match’s only goal at the Gtech Community Stadium for the fourth goal of his debut campaign in the Premier League.
