Chinaka wins 2025 IBB Lady Captain’s Cup

Clement Chinaka has emerged as the overall winner of the 2025 IBB Lady Captain’s Cup in the tournament, which teed off on Wednesday and ended on Sunday at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.

Chinaka, who played off handicap 16, returned a gross score of 85 and 69 net and beat his closest challenger on countback to emerge the overall winner of the tourney.

An elated Chinaka said winning the tournament’s overall prize was a thing of joy, adding that the week-long tournament was one-of-kind and very well organised; a testament to the attributes of the outgoing lady captain.

“I feel very great that I was able to achieve this and winning this very well-organised tournament, put together by our amiable lady captain and her team; the first-of-its-kind in this club, is amazing.

“The atmosphere was very conducive and I had a good flight too, even though I didn’t play too well at the front nine, but at the back nine, I decided to up my game. It is indeed a thing of joy for me and my teeming supporters that I have won this tournament and I am sure everyone is happy,” he said.

Grace Agbo playing off handicap 6, returned a gross score of 82 gross to emerge as best gross in the ladies category, while Faridah Wada settled for the runner-up position.

Winners emerged in other categories like the ladies’ handicap/index (0.5 – 15.7) category, the ladies’ veteran, the men’s veteran, the super veteran prize, the men’s super veteran, the sponsors and the ladies’ caddies, the men’s caddies, and the doubles matchplay category.
