Bauchi gov slams Wike for undermining PDP, divisive politics

By Daily Sports Nigeria on January 24, 2025

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has strongly criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over a recent media interview where Wike allegedly directed disparaging comments at the Mohammed and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.

Bala described Wike as someone who thrives on creating drama and fostering division.

This was contained in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Muhktar Gidado, on Thursday.

The statement reads, “The attention of Sen. Bala Mohammed, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, has been drawn to the latest disjointed and bombastic media chat by Chief Nyesom Wike, the Honorable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

“In his characteristic fashion, Chief Wike launched into one of his now-predictable tirades, filled with contradictions, grandstanding, and a puzzling display of shifting loyalties that seem to change with the political winds.”

Bala further accused Wike of incoherence, stating that his remarks were riddled with contradictions, making it difficult to identify any substantial arguments.

Nevertheless, he said it was important to address certain comments made by Wike that distorted facts and sought to undermine the PDP—a party that had played a pivotal role in Wike’s political journey.

“Chief Wike’s rise in politics is a direct result of the opportunities provided by the PDP. Ironically, he now seems intent on tearing down the very foundation that supported his ascent,” the statement added.

Bala also expressed disappointment that Wike, who owed much of his political success to the PDP, had chosen to become a tool for denigrating the party.

“His recent outburst in the media serves as another stark reminder of his transactional approach to politics—a style where personal ambitions overshadow loyalty, principles, and the collective interests of the party.

“Unlike Wike, who thrives on drama and divisiveness, Sen. Bala Mohammed has always approached politics as a platform for serving the public good, rather than as a stage for self-serving theatrics,” it noted.

Bala further accused Wike of being opportunistic and unreliable, emphasising that his erratic behaviour and tendency to form alliances for convenience have alienated even his closest allies.

“Wike’s behaviour exposes him as a fair-weather friend and an inconsistent ally—traits that drive away even those who once stood by his side,” the statement concluded.
