Greenwood to undergo Marseille medical

By Daily Sports Nigeria on July 18, 2024

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is reportedly set to undergo a medical with Marseille ahead of signing a long-term contract with the European giants.

The 22-year-old spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Getafe, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in 36 appearances for the Spanish outfit in all competitions.

Man United’s new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe suggested earlier this year that there could be a route for the Red Devils academy product back into the first team at Old Trafford.

However, the 20-time English champions have ultimately decided to let him leave on a permanent basis.

Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Lazio are among the clubs to be linked with Greenwood, but Marseille have seemingly won the race for his signature, with a deal set to be confirmed in the near future.

According to BBC Sport, Greenwood has already agreed personal terms with the French outfit, while a transfer fee of around £25.2m has been settled on between the two clubs.

The report claims that the Englishman will undergo a medical before signing a contract until June 2029, while Man United have also inserted a ‘significant’ sell-on clause into the deal.
