Chukwueze relishes first Serie A goal

Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze, is excited after scoring his first Serie A goal for AC Milan, adding that it was a huge relief for him, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Chukwueze scored with a superb volley five minutes after coming on for Noah Okafor in the 75th minute of the Rossoneri’s 3-1 win over Hellas Verona.

The goal was his third of the season.

Reacting to his first Serie A goal, Chukwueze told DAZN, “I’m really happy. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. These first few months were not easy, but I’ve continued to work hard.

“It was important to win and I want to keep scoring to help the team. I must continue working hard because they signed me to score goals. I trust the coach and his plans for me. I just need to remain focused and continue working hard.”

The win helped them cement second place in Serie A with Milan currently 14 points adrift Serie A leaders Inter and three above third-placed Juventus.

Meanwhile, Chukwueze admits that he cannot dislodge Christian Pulisic from the AC Milan starting lineup at the moment, labeling the USMNT captain ‘undroppable’.

Pulisic has enjoyed a memorable debut campaign at San Siro, on the back of his transfer from Chelsea last summer and was also on target against Hellas Verona.

The goal took Pulisic’s tally to 12 for the season – which is a personal best for the American forward.

“They are not easy as who plays in my position (Pulisic) is doing well and scoring many goals,” Chukwueze told DAZN.

“The coach can’t put him on the bench, but I continue to work. My goal means a lot to my confidence. I must continue to work and be focused on the future.”
