Mikel still eyes Chelsea return

By Daily Sports on October 11, 2017

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel still believes that the door is open over a possible return to his former English Premier League side Chelsea.

Mikel is presently playing for Chinese side Tianjin Teda after leaving Chelsea in January, but despite admitting he is enjoying life in his new surroundings, the 31 year old refused to rule out a return to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking shortly after helping Nigeria secure qualification to the World Cup in Russia, Mikel said he is open to the idea of returning to Chelsea in the future.

“I didn’t have the chance to say goodbye on the pitch to the fans who stood by me for over 10 years, that itself is enough motivation for me to want to return “, Mikel said.

“I’m very happy in China but then what I have learnt is that in football anything can happen. Chelsea is home to me due to my close relationship with the management of the team but I’m happy in China,” he said. (Vanguard)
