Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has revealed he is ‘not bothered’ about his goals drought this season, PUNCH Sport Extra reports.
The Nigeria international failed to score in his third successive game during Napoli’s 2-1 win over SC Braga in a UEFA Champions League game on Wednesday but believes that he will rediscover his goalscoring touch soon.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a spectacular season last term where he led Napoli to their first Serie A title scoring 31 goals in all competitions.
“It’s strange to end a game without scoring,”Osimhen told UEFA.
“I’m a striker and strikers live for goals but it’s not something that bothers me too much because it’s already happened and I’m prepared for it. It’s not just with goals that you help the team and I’m always ready to help in other ways.”
Osimhen who is one of the nominees for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award was also thrilled to be named the Player of the Match in his side’s win over Braga.
“It’s good to win this award but it’s even better and more important to get the three points against Braga in a game that was far from easy.”
“We knew that Braga were difficult, especially at home, and the difficulties they created for us didn’t surprise me. But we had many chances and we deserved the victory.”
Osimhen has scored just three goals in five appearances so far this season will be keen to score when Napoli host Bologna at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in a Serie A fixture on Sunday.
