Nigerian midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, has joined Hong Kong Premier League side Kitchee FC from Bahrain side, East Riffa, on a free transfer, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The details of the deal were, however, not disclosed by the club.
The 30-year-old joins the Hong Kong Premier League champions, who have won the league a record 12 times, after a brief spell in Bahrain and Italian Serie D side Casertana FC.
In August 2022, the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner completed a free transfer to Italian Serie D side Casertana FC, six years after he played for Lazio in the elite Italian Serie A.
After ending his stint in Turkey with Trabzonspor, then Denizlispor in 2020, he had brief spells in Denmark, Lithuania and Saudi Arabia, before moving back to Italy August 2022.
He, however, made only one appearance for Casertana in the Serie D, before switching to East Riffa in January.
Onazi told PUNCH Sports Extra that his mission in Bahrain was to help East Riffa claim the title but that wasn’t to be as the club finished fourth in the league last season.
The 30-year-old might be able to win another piece of silverware in his club career again with the record Hong Kong champions, having won the Italian Cup with Lazio in 2012/12 and the Lithuanian league title with FK Zalgiris Vilnius in 2021.
Onazi also made 52 appearances for the Super Eagles, scoring once and played a key role in Nigeria’s 2013 AFCON triumph.
