Hearn challenges Fury to fight Joshua

By Daily Sports Nigeria on March 12, 2023

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn is still hopeful that an epic encounter between Tyson Fury and the British-Nigerian can still be made and has called on Fury’s promotional team to assist him in making the fight happen.

Joshua returns from consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk on April 1 when he faces America’s Jermaine Franklin at London’s O2 Arena, exclusively live on DAZN.

Fury’s next move is still unknown with the reigning WBC champion currently locked in talks to secure an undisputed clash with Usyk.

With both sides still way off in terms of securing an agreement for a super-fight that will produce the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000, Hearn has discussed the possibility of revisiting the lengthy rivalry between Fury and Joshua.

“Make the Joshua vs Fury fight and we’ll make it now,” said Hearn when speaking on The Betfred Lightweight Boxing Show.

“I’ve said to George Warren that we’ve got the basis of the deal that we had last time, let’s progress with that and let’s get the deal done.

“One of the reasons we’re not seeing Usyk vs Fury is because there’s not that much money in it. It’s not as big a fight as people think. Joshua vs Fury, there’s fortunes in that fight. Let’s get it on. I know what Tyson Fury wants and that’s money and he wants as much money as possible.” Joshua will be keen to return to winning ways when he faces Franklin next month.
