As efforts to save Kelechi Emeteole’s life continues to swell, the management of El-Kanemi FC of Maiduguri is billed to visit the sick coach in Owerri on Saturday before honouring the NPFL game against low flying Ifeanyi Uba FC of Nnewi on Sunday.
A statement by the club’s Media Manager, Prince Anthony Obaseki, revealed that Kelechi’s former employers decided to pay him a solidarity visit in order to boost his morale and at the same time, make a donation towards getting him out of the sick bed. That is aside from the N3 million debts the club off set last Tuesday.
“El-Kanemi FC management resolved to visit the passionate coach to give him some morale boosting effects and will also give something that would aid his impending medical trip to India. Our management has been deeply touched since the news of the coach broke. We can never lose sight of the enormous contributions he made to the evolution of the Maiduguri war lords. He remains one of our faithful friends and we will try our best to contribute in the overall spirited bid to save his life,” the club said in the statement.
Obaseki also added that El-Kanemi will endeavour to play well against FC Ifeanyi Uba to make Emeteole happy as a way to show further appreciation to him.
According to him, the technical crew, players and the management are resolute in their trip to Nnewi and would ensure good display of football in order to continue to enhance their chances in the ongoing season.
“We know the pedigree of our opponent and we will not relent as we take them head on. Good enough, El-Kanemi is in no nonsense mood presently and we will carry the battle to their ground. It is envisaged to be a fight to finish game,” Obaseki anticipates.
