Osimhen continues goal rout, makes history after Empoli victory

By Daily Sports Nigeria on February 26, 2023

Napoli’s in-form striker, Victor Osimhen, has become the second youngest player to score in eight consecutive Series A games after his goal in his club’s 2-0 victory over Empoli on Saturday.

The Nigeria international scored in his previous seven league games and added another one to his tally.

As expected, the Naples giants started the game on top holding the ball and applying pressure on the Empoli defence.

In the 28th minute, Napoli got their second, and it was none other than their potent hitman Victor Osimhen.

The 24-year-old goal poacher displayed his striker’s instinct after calmly getting first to a rebound and sending the ball into the net with just one touch to make it 2-0.

Osimhen could have scored his second of the game six minutes later. But Guglielmo Vicario pulled off an amazing save to keep his shot out.

The lethal striker failed to score another goal after the tremendous display in the first half and the game ended 2-0 for Napoli.

Osimhen now has 19 goals in Serie A this season.

According to Opta, his strike against Empoli ensures that he is the second youngest player (24 years, 58 days) after Roberto Muzzi (23 years, 165 for Cagliari in 1995) to score in eight straight games.
