3SC official banned over misconduct

The Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Professional Football League has banned 3SC’S camp commandant, Auwal Mohammed, from all NPFL-related activities for a year after a photo of him purportedly urinating on the pitch before their match-day nine game against Akwa United on Sunday went viral.

The 3SC was also fined N500,000 for bringing the league to disrepute by failing to control the official.

The Oluyole Warriors hosted the Promise Keepers in their last game of the first stanza of the 2022/23 abridged season in Ibadan which ended 2-2 and left the hosts 7th on the table with 10 points from nine matches.

Mohammed is the third 3SC official who will come under the hammers of the league organisers in the last one year following media officer, Tosin Omojola, and kits manager Majolagbe Kolawole, who were handed one-year ban each last year for their involvement in the assault of a journalist at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

In a summary jurisdiction notice sent to the club which was obtained by our correspondent, head of operations of the IMC, Davison Owumi, charged the club for failing to control the conduct of their official and further admonished the club management to take steps to curb an occurrence of such conduct in the future.

“You are in breach of Rule C1 in that before the start of the match-day nine fixture between 3SC and Akwa United, “your Camp Commandant, Auwal Mohammed was spotted urinating on the playing pitch which is a despicable act that is capable of bringing the game to disrepute,” the statement read.
