Injured Ndidi set to return

By Daily Sports Nigeria on January 27, 2023

Wilfred Ndidi will return to training this weekend after picking up a muscle strain in Leicester City training, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The defensive midfielder was absent for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Brighton, with Papy Mendy taking his place.

Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers, announced that the Nigerian suffered the injury at Seagrave in the build-up to the match.

On Thursday, while speaking ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie at Walsall, Rodgers said the 25-year-old midfielder will join the Foxes group next week.

“He’ll be out on the grass at the weekend,” he replied when asked about the midfielder’s fitness.

“He should join the group next week.”

The former Genk midfielder has suffered several injuries since last season and has struggled to stay fit during this campaign.

Ndidi has featured in 16 games across all competitions for Leicester City this season.
