Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu, will make his 100th Belgian Pro League appearance against Club Brugge at the Cegeka Arena in round 19 of the Belgian Jupiler League on Sunday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The game will also be his 130th for Genk whom he joined from FC Midtjylland in 2019.
The encounter will also see Onuachu come up against his compatriot Rapheal Onyedika.
Onuachu who is currently the leading scorer in the Belgian topflight division with 13 goals in 15 games has notched up 70 goals in 99 games making six assists since he arrived at the club three years ago from Denmark.
He has also netted 82 times in 129 appearances for Genk while Onyedika has been a stalwart in the midfield for Brugge who are currently fourth in the Belgian table.
Both teams will face off for the first time in 2023 with Brugges heading into the fixture with a five-game winning streak against the hosts who aim to continue in the same vein after they were dealt just their second defeat of the season by Kortrijk on December 26.
Before that, Wouter Vrancken’s men were unbeaten in 21 games, winning 20.
With 46 points from 18 games, Genk lead the Jupiler League with a seven-point cushion over Union Saint-Gilloise.
They also boasts of a slight upper hand in the fixture, leading 32-30, while the spoils have been shared on 13 occasions. Brugge have won their last five games against Genk since a 2-1 loss in May 2021.
Genk are unbeaten at home this season, claiming an impressive 11 wins in 12 games across competitions. Brugge are unbeaten in their last four games, drawing twice, since November.
Genk and Brugge are two of the biggest teams in the Belgian top flight, so expect a thrilling contest at the Cegeka Arena. Genk have been near impenetrable at home season, so they should claim a slender win.
