Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has urged Everton fans to support Frank Lampard as the team set to kick start the second half of the season after the World Cup break.
Lampard Everton’s side have not been impressive with 14 points from 15 matches and lost three straight matches in all competitions before the World Cup break, currently 17th spot in the Premier League table.
The 26-year-old Nigeria international is however confident Lampard can turn the fortunes of the club around and save the team from relegation.
“Especially last season, the fans played a big part in us staying up,” he said. “ Iwobi told Sky Sports.
“They were coming to our training ground with flares and trying to motivate us for each game.
“I didn’t understand why it was called the ‘People’s Club’ until literally last season and I’ve seen the effect they can have on the team.”
The former Arsenal player who has become an important player for the Toffees since Lampard arrived last season pleaded with the fans to back Lampard.
“I say stick by him because not just me but the [other] players appreciate what he’s doing and what he’s done, not just in his career but what he’s doing for the club right now.
“He’s a hard-working man and he’s always putting his job first, even before his family! He does work hard and he’s a very understanding man, so stick by him,” he said.
