Manchester United striker, Cristiano Ronaldo is in contention to take to the pitch when Portugal face three-time African champions, Super Eagles in a glamour friendly at the Estádio José Alvalade on Thursday evening.
According to the training images shared by the official Twitter account of the Seleção, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner reported for international duty on Monday and was involved in Portugal’s workout at Cidade do Futebol, smiling to the cameras as he trained.
Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United in the coming months is inevitable after his exclusive interview with famous journalist, Piers Morgan in which he criticized Erik ten Hag, the powers that be at the club and his former teammates Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.
The Portugal captain appears to have no issues with his teammate at club level Bruno Fernandes as both were seen greeting each other in the changing room before the start of Monday evening’s training session.
Ronaldo holds the world record for international goals, scoring 117 for Portugal since making his debut in 2003.
He netted his 48th and 49th international goals against Cameroon in March 2014 before grabbing his 50th versus Ghana, and also registered his name on the scoresheet against two other African countries Egypt and Morocco.
