LET ME BEGIN BY SAYING PEACE BE UNTO YOU ALL.
In one of the quotes of Late Bob Marley, the legendary singer and I quote,
"THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYING TO MAKE THIS WORLD WORSE AREN'T TAKING A DAY OFF, HOW CAN I" .
Good day distinguished colleagues and a special reverence to the highly esteemed National Executives of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria ably represented by the Vice President South West Zone, Ajayi-Obe Oluwaseun.
It is indeed a great honour and of course a resounding victory for the entire membership of SWAN nationwide to witness this day.
As SWAN IN A TOWN IS ALSO A SWAN OF THE NATION, this means we are one. SWAN is same.
It is no doubt that chaos which emanated from some members in time past has caused different misinformation and misrepresentation which I believe will end soonest and all shall be well in due time.
As we all know that SWAN is an entity bigger than each and everyone of us, but the most important thing is the legacy you and I are able to lay down which comes with nothing but great sacrifice of hardwork, focus, dedication, courage and honesty.
This moment will really go down in history as SWAN Lagos Chapter begins another phase of career progress for members, I mean an era of positive advancement for Lagos SWAN and absolute upliftment for members welfare.
It is obvious we cannot remain stagnant , if we do not trigger out the positive being in us that will influence good vision , honesty and equity so as to get a better SWAN and greater SWAN of tomorrow.
Late Bob Marley quote says;
"LIVE FOR YOURSELF AND YOU WILL LIVE IN VAIN, LIVE FOR OTHERS AND YOU WILL LIVE AGAIN".
SWAN , I BELIEVE SHALL BE GREAT AGAIN, AS THE SUCCESSS STORY HAS ALREADY BEGAN RIGHT FROM THE TIME THE NATIONAL BODY INAUGURATED CARETAKER EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE IN LAGOS STATE CHAPTER LED BY ARON AKEREJOLA. In this new dispensation, members welfare shall be one of the utmost focus, smoother integration with relevant institutions and special recognition for LAGOS SWAN shall also be a major focus as this I believe will enhance character building, community Safety and community building among us as professionals.
The time has come for us as SWAN members to imbibe better spirit if integration among ourselves and forsake every form of segregation because the spirit of sportsmanship is a divine Unifier a purely integrating element.
I appeal to all aggrieved members to embrace peace and let's come to a round table to move Lagos SWAN to a greater height like never before.
I will round up my speech with this quote from one of the greatest speeches of Late Nelson Mandela titled NO EASY WALK TO FREEDOM. " in spite of all the difficulties, we have won important victories and this is the development of the highest importance that there's no Easy Walk To Freedom and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we get to the mountain tops of our desire.
Special appreciation to the Hon. President, Sir. Dr. Honour Sirawoo, NEC members, Caretaker Executive Committee members, SWANECO committee members and all Lagos SWAN members.
GOD bless Lagos SWAN, GOD bless National SWAN. So Help me GOD
OLATUTU OLADUNNI
FIRST CHAIRPERSON, LAGOS SWAN
