Sagon Junior Emerges Last Man Standing At OFU3 MMA Streetfight

By Daily Sports Nigeria on May 9, 2022

As a trained mechanical engineer, constructing and dismantling opponents was seemingly not a problem for the Sagon Junior Agoha Iheanyi at the OFU3 Mixed Martial Arts MMA Streetfight in Ajegunle.

The Imo state based fighter, massively supported by a section of crowds at Navy Barracks, fought thru two imposing opponents to win the OFU3 Streetfighter award for 2022 in Ajegunle.

According to Agoha, who looked to had perfected his technique ahead of the tournament, he’s wrestling background played a huge a role in the victory:

“First of all everything I achieved inside the cage was never by my power.

“All thanks to God for the win.

“As a lover of wrestling, I like taking my opponents to the deepest parts of the ocean where they would never rise again.

“Am so grateful to my fans who kept cheering me on; hearing their motivational chants was a huge source of inspiration for me not to let them down.

“How can I forget my coach the irresistible Fearless Dragon Emmanuel Osuji who prepared and conditioned me for this challenging championship.

“Long live One Fight Ultimate, long live OFU.”

In actual sense, the cage victory didn’t come on a platter for Sagon Junior as he survived multiple guillotine and rear naked chokes from the more experienced Nani Chima to earn a split decision win which vaulted him into the final.

The final bout tested Agoha’s will as Benue Boy Victor Dooga who had unanimously decisioned Geoffrey ‘Skullcobra’ John in the first semifinal, proved a hard nut to crack.

Despite Victor’s longer reach and numerous haymaking one twos, Iheanyi stuck to his strategy of drowning his opponents deeper in the ocean to lock in a split decision win.

The huge number of fight fans provided an electrically charged atmosphere at the venue, Navy Barracks.

The supportive and collaborative nature of the fans through out the one day series moved the CEO of One Fight Ultimate OFU Chief Ife Obiudo(Ofuonye) to promise another dose of MMA action before the end of the year:

“I truly and deeply appreciate your presence at OFU3 Streetfight.

“The Streetfight will surely come back to AJ City simply because of how you fans have accepted the game and the brand.

“OFU has come to reinvent and develop MMA in Nigeria by empowering youths and others associated with the game.

“The choice of Ajegunle as a venue resonates with the fact that the community remains the bedrock of grassroots sports development in Nigeria.”

Other dignitaries who attended the OFU3 Streetfight included the president of the Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria Grandmaster Wilson Okon, a representative of the chairman of Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA, former chief referee of Karate Federation of Nigeria Mr Elegunde Taiwo and Mr Emmanuel Etu who is the leader of Great Ajegunle Elite.

Consequently, the triumph at the the Streetfight has earned Iheanyi Agoha a spot in the upcoming mother of all MMA championships in Africa, OFU4 Democracy Fightnight which features the much talked about Rematch between bantamweight champion Nigeria’s Emmanuel ‘Knockout Machine’ Bernard and the Egyptian Viper Hassan Mandour.

The eagerly anticipated showpiece comes up on 10 June 2022 at Oriental Hotel in Lagos.
