Amaju, NFF Board Under Intensive Pressure to Resign • As Police Averts Bloody Clash • Group to Organise ‘Mother’ of All Protests

By Daily Sports Nigeria on April 23, 2022

Except there is a sudden change of heart and tactics, the days in office of the present executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by Amaju Pinnick seems to be numbered as the protesters who marched from Sports Ministry area in Abuja last week to Unity Fountains are planning what they have described as Mother of all protests any moment soon.

Daily Sports can now exclusively report that the protest will be in continuation of last week’s to show the continuous dismay of Nigerians in the over all dismal performance of the apex football governing body in the country since the present regime took hold.

According to insider sources within the group, Nigerian football has been on steady decline without concrete move (s) by the Amaju led board to rescue it. It pointed out how the Super Eagles performed below expectations during the AFCON football summit in Cameroun being booted out in the round of 16 by half strength Tunisian national side whose technical adviser and other key players were not on duty during the game.

“As if that was not enough, the Eagles could not turn Ghana back in Abuja second leg of Qatar World Cup 2022 play off which led to the sacking of the technical crew headed by Austin Eguaveon. Nigerians thought that after such house cleaning exercise, the board would be honourable enough to excuse themselves for entirely new executive committee to be reconstituted, but they have sat tight hence, the planned total protest to sweep them away for fresh start of new members with workable agenda and flexible ideas for our football development,” it was further gathered.

They also accused the present executive committee of involvement in monumental financial mismanagement and called on them to follow the best path by throwing in the towel. The leaders of the group who addressed the teeming audience also alleged that instead of the board to be so concerned about the failure of the country’s football, it has started jostling for the next elective congress of the body and to worsen the matter, it is still the same people that are the major problems of the game in the failed regime that are positioning themselves to share the positions in NFF.

“Nigerian football fans do not need this executive committee a day longer any more. The corruption in the regime is frightening, they alleged. They reminded Amaju Pinnick and his members that sponsoring a rival group to counter their genuine and patriotic mission to save the country’s football would remain counter productive as such practice by them would never fly.

It would be recalled that a rival group was hurriedly arranged to counter the first protesters but the alertness of the Nigerian Police for the first help to prevent what would have been a bloody clash between the two groups.
