Former Super Eagles midfield dynamo, Austin Jay Jay Okocha has cautioned the players of the team to be vigilant as they take on their Black Stars counterparts in the more critical second leg tie where a winner must emerge.
Okocha who described the Tuesday football war between Nigeria and Ghana two long standing arch rivals as winner takes now or never battle describing it as one match with many faces which the home team must take decisive stand to win.
“It won’t be an easy one as both teams will start on even note. The game will be high tension in all aspects. It is important for both the technical crew and the players to know the nature of the match that has no second chance therefore they will be playing against a different Black Stars side far from what they saw in Kumasi dual, more determined and rugged. The first game tie will less tough than the second leg because this is where the entire life line of both teams depends on. Any country that gets it right on the cause of the game would carry the day,” Okocha emphasized.
The former Everton FC of England player called on the Eagles to remain steadfast and face squarely this match as it comes. He told the players not to be tensed up but rather put their mind on the strategies the coaches instructed them on how to go about it. The Eagles he pointed out have the caliber of players that can safely deliver the World Cup ticket to Nigeria no matter the kind of resistance their day’s opponent, the Black Stars would mount Nigeria has the capacity to zeal.
“Being focused, determined, calculated and playing to instruction will see the Eagles through. The Black Stars will also have the mind set of coming to Abuja to cause upset but the Nigerians must not allow such to happen. Once the attackers coordinate themselves better than it did in the first leg, the story will be different. The midfielders must take control of that area of the field while the defenders must be very vigilant to protect the goalkeeper ensuring he not badly exposed to the opponent’s strikers, then It is obvious that the confidence of both teams have grown but only the fittest will laugh last. He urged the Austin Eguaveon tutored lads to do their teeming supporters proud by ensuring the team score clear and clean goal that will shock the Black Stars and knock them out of the tournament,” stressed.
