Barcelona will not pursue a move for Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window, clearing the way for Real Madrid to land the PSG talisman.
According to a report by Spanish publication, Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid will likely have a clear run at Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window. Barcelona will pursue a move for the Paris Saint-Germain attacker, cooling interest in him after denying claims that they contacted him.
Mbappe is poised to soon complete one of the most shocking transfers of all time, as he is running down his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Since arriving from AS Monaco nearly half a decade ago, the 23-year-old has been a pivotal figure for Les Parisiens. And he has been their talisman this season despite the presence of legendary attackers, like Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has amassed 26 goals and 17 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for PSG thus far this term. But Mbappe is in the final few months of his contract with the Ligue 1 heavyweights and has rejected their overtures over signing a contract renewal. Such a situation has captured the attention of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Real Madrid unsuccessfully attempted to sign Mbappe in a nine-figure deal last summer, with PSG keeping hold of the French international in the hope of renewing his contract. Los Blancos’ interest in Mbappe has only grown stronger during the ongoing season, and they had been hoping to secure his signature already.
