Enyimba striker Mfon Udoh believes proper preparation will be the key to his side’s success in the CAF Champions League.
The two-time African champions were on Tuesday pitched in Group B together with two North African giants, Zamalek of Egypt and ES Setif of Algeria, as well as Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.
Udoh said there are no minnows among the eight teams that made it to the group stage of Africa’s premier club football tournament.
“I took a pensive look at the eight qualifiers and immediately came to the conclusion that all the teams are very good sides and I know they are going to be tough opponents.
“Instantly I told myself that if we are hoping for particular opponents we may be getting it wrong.
“Right now we know our group’s opponents, Zamalek, ES Setif and Mamelodi Sundowns. The only sure route to success is hard work.
“There are no easy opponents in the group and we were not expecting one but I strongly believe if we do the needful and at the right time we will qualify from the group to the semifinals stage,” said the former Akwa United marksman to supersport.com.
The first games of the CAF Champions League will be played on June 17. Two top-most teams will qualify from each group to the semifinals stage of the competition.
