According to a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli may allow Senegalese centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to leave for a fee of €50m in the off-season, with the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona and the two Manchester clubs interested.
The 29-year-old Teranga Lions star will be out of contract at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in just over two years’ time, making this the last opportunity the Neapolitans will have to fully cash in on his value.
Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis claims to have rejected a €100m bid for Koulibaly in 2019, but a cash-crunch due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the fact that the defender is closing in on 30 has seen his value significantly reduced.
According to the report, the asking price is in the region of €60m, but the Napoli head honcho could eventually sell the African defender for a lower fee.
Koulibaly has been a long-time target in the Premier League, where Liverpool, Manchester United and City are all said to be keen on his services, and the defender is open to leaving the club in the coming European summer.
It remains to be seen whether the Senegalese star will change his mind if Napoli manage to qualify for the Champions League this season. (African Football)
