Enyimba stunned Kano Pillars 2-1 in Kano, on Wednesday to move out of the relegation zone of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Nigerian champions, Enyimba, came into the match desperately needing a positive result following two dire draws at home to Heartland and Lobi Stars.
The hosts started the rescheduled game on the front foot and duly took the lead via a Rabiu Ali free kick in the 20th minute.
Sai Masu Gida almost doubled their tally in the 36th minute but Ifeanyi Matthew watched in frustration as Theophilus Afelokhai saved his effort from point blank range.
Afelokhai was again outstanding, two minutes before the interval to deny Ali his brace.
The missed opportunities were to prove costly for the hosts as a much improved Enyimba scored twice after the interval to condemn Pillars to their first reverse at home this term.
Nzube Anaezemba began the comeback with a well-taken goal in the 51st minute while Ike Thankgod netted the winner with eight minutes remaining.
Late pressure from the hosts failed to produce any reward with Adamu Mohammed (twice) and Azeez Shobowale both denied at the death with substitute Enyimba goalkeeper, Femi Thomas in exemplary form.
The win takes Enyimba up three places on the log as they now occupy 15th place with 17 points from 11 matches.
Pillars stay in second with 24 points from 14 matches.
