Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard is hopeful that Hakim Ziyech will be back in action before the new year.
The Morocco international picked up a hamstring injury in the Blues’ 3-1 win over Leeds United last weekend and had to be substituted after 30 minutes, but seems to have avoided serious injury.
Both Ziyech and teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi underwent scans this week and Lampard has revealed that the duo are only expected to miss two weeks of action.
“We think both are going to be about two weeks, they both had scans,” said Lampard.
“So it should be about two weeks. With Hakim that’s positive, while with Callum we didn’t know what to expect. But it’s good news overall on both.”
Ziyech arrived at Stamford Bridge from Ajax Amsterdam for a reported £33million in July and has made an immediate impact in west London.
The 27-year-old has directly contributed to five goals in 12 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea this season. The Blues return to action away to Everton on Saturday and will play Wolves, West Ham United, Arsenal and Aston Villa in the Premier League before hosting Manchester City in the new year.
