West Ham Set To Sign Benrahma

By Daily sports on October 15, 2020

West Ham are set to complete the £30m signing of Brentford forward Said Benrahma before Friday's transfer deadline.

It is understood the Hammers have agreed to pay £25m up front, with another £5m in add-ons.

The 25-year-old flew back from international duty with Algeria on Wednesday and is set to replace Felipe Anderson in David Moyes' squad.

It is anticipated he will have a medical before the end of Thursday.

There had been talk of a dispute between Benrahma, who scored 17 goals in 43 Championship appearances last season, and Brentford.

However, it is acknowledged it is not in the interests of any party for the deal to be scrapped given the player's desire to play in the Premier League.

Brentford will make a massive profit on Benrahma, who cost them less than £3m when he arrived from Nice two years ago.

He was a pivotal figure in the Bees charge towards promotion last year, which faltered at the end of the season when they lost their final two games when two points would have been enough to take them into the top flight for the first time in their history.

Brentford subsequently lost to Fulham in the play-off final. They are currently 14th in the table with four points from their opening four games.

Premier League clubs can still sign players from English Football League sides until 17:00 BST on Friday. (BBC)
