Osimhen: Next Stop Napoli

By Daily Sports on July 6, 2020

Nigeria ought ordinarily to be a great country but the leaders over time have rubbished the supposedly all sufficient giant in the mud. Mischief and untold pretence by the leaders have robbed and stagnated the country.  As tireless as they could be in treachery, these rogue leaders are still there making noise to high heavens. Currently the country just exists for the sake of it.  Call it big for nothing! A country known more for her all motions no movement stance.

However, sports have always come handy to wipe out the tears of the brutalised, hungry and poverty ridden citizenry that have often times taken solace in it for survival and waiting earnestly for glimmer of hope for a brand new tomorrow.

It is against this inflammable background, therefore, that Victor Osimhen’s reported move to one of the top teams in Italian Serie A club, Napoli FC has been receiving wider applause across the globe from his numerous fans. Nigeria is on the better side of the news and those of us that have come closer to the gangling leggy hit man are vehemently praying that the deal pulls through this Monday, July 6, 2020.

We will as usual outlive these corrupt, lying and short sighted political leaders that talk on drop of hat. They don’t learn from the past or even amongst themselves.  Remember how one of them that talks or sees himself as tin god or  in fact as if he owns Nigeria, fall by the way side the other day in one of the South South States. He ignited riot when his high handedness failed his riotous political party in Bayelsa State. The rest is now history for him and by God’s grace he would be finally thrown into the refuse dump of history after September 19.

To all the ardent readers of this column every Monday, Victor Osimhen has some sort become a recurring decimal for the readers of Daily Sports digital newspaper.

My dear valuable readers, it is not deliberate as the lad has been in the news for good.  As people oriented all sports daily, wholly recognised by Google worldwide, we follow diligently the steady rising profile of the former U-17 hit man in his senior career and this no doubt calls for celebration and prayers especially because of his move to top Italian side, Napoli FC.

This writer has said it often times that he has soft spot for the player, for his comportment which has not changed from his U-17 days. Such traits are alien to Nigerian players especially when they are in the news for the better side of it. What is normally associated with them would be to carry shoulders and shun people who ordinarily they ought not to and like the age old adage says, proud goes before fall.

The news of his move to that highbrow team which final talks would be concluded today (Monday), is heartening and the Super Eagles player would be home and dry, in short, good to go. As you would attest, this columnist pleaded to his managers to put their eyes on the ball to ensure the player did not make some avoidable mistake (s) on choice of Club and we pray that this deal with one of the first rate club sides in Italian Serie A would be fixed.

If his move to Napoli pulls through, it would be on record that the dare devil striker would become second highest paid African player and such would gladden the heart of Super Eagles technical hand, Franco German, Gernot Rohr and his assistants because it would be a plus for the former Africa Champs as the team waits on its wings to resume hostilities for space for the AFCON and World Cup qualifiers when the green light is given by FIFA and CAF.

Osimhen is doing well presently and no doubt by God’s guidance the Napoli deal would be sealed and he starts off.

To be honest with you, the lad has kept faith in his chosen career, working hard and earnestly waiting for time like this hour to come. It will click and his potentials would be fully harnessed, taking it from there and going forward too.

The striker, if his talks with the management of one of the Italians giants’ club sides’ sticks, then Osimhen would be better for it and his career would  blossom too.

The upbeat of most of the Super Eagles players in their teams no doubt would put the outfit in great stead and make the handlers have more confident as they journey to contest  and grab space for the forthcoming African and World Cup tournaments.
