Mikel will be ‘captain fantastic’ for Nigeria —Elder brother

By Daily Sports on March 25, 2016

Mikel Obi will make a ‘fantastic captain’ of the Nigeria national team according to his elder brother, Ebele.

Ebele who is on the books of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Heartland says Mikel’s qualities will ensure that he succeeds in his new role.

The news that Mikel has replaced Ahmed Musa as Super Eagles captain was ratified on Thursday.

“I am very sure Mikel will make a fantastic captain.

“He is a very happy-minded person. He never showed any anger towards anyone when Ahmed Musa was made captain by former coach, Sunday Oliseh.

“He has served in the national team longer than anyone (Mikel made his Nigeria debut in 2006) but he stayed patient,” Ebele told supersport.com.

Mikel’s commitment to the cause of the national team has been questioned by some fans in the past but Ebele insists the Chelsea man’s attitude to the national team has always been spot on.

“Mikel has always been a hundred percent committed to the national team.

“I am sure that level of commitment will double now that he’s captain.

“The Obi family is very with the news that Mikel is captain and we are confident that he will do us proud,” he said. © supersport.com
