Gara Gombe’s Stunning Revelations On Sports Minister, His Gangsters And Recent Athletes’ Palliatives’

By Daily Sports on May 12, 2020

Of a truth, the last is yet to be heard on the NFF/Gernot Rohr contract renewal as the hide and seek game from both camps continue. One can safely say that this is the Nigerian way of doing things. First, the NFF created this suspicion and Rohr’s managers and lawyer(s) capitalised on the loophole, hence the waiting game that may end in much hue and cry. I am waiting to be proved wrong for the first time. This obviously will continue to be a recurring decimal until Rohr is re-engaged or sacked.

Again, this is a country that believes in, swims in, breathes intrigues and loves ironies like no other and so, no assignment is carried out here without intrigues and ensuring that somebody somewhere is shortchanged.

The current scenario is exactly what was expected at the tip of the renewal of this Franco-German contract as many interests and their agents would form strong lobby groups with deep pockets to get the ears of the NFF bigwigs for their clients to clinch the prized plumb Super Eagles job. This is after Rohr has laboured to raise the Eagles to this height, if nothing in the African scene. Nigeria no doubt has a respectable squad in African continent today.

He has involved many more good Nigeria lads abroad as the Eagles team has become more viable, hence attracting various interest groups. One hopes that this craze for money does not make the efforts of these past years to rebuild the team by Rohr to be in vain because of the ongoing war and fight for supremacy amongst forces for and against.

Like the larger society, many things have gone astray in Nigeria. As depicted in the  late legendary novelist, Professor Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, the centre can no longer hold.

Let me acknowledge here the exploits of very sensational Victor Osimhen and posit that this young man is another Rasheed Yekini in the national team. I have watched him in several videos and discovered similar vivid performances like the late goal’s king. Victor has speed and has bullet on his legs. I don’t know if you have taken time to watch him closely in his French club side and just recently he was honoured and he scores goals effortlessly. One of his strong points is whenever he is on the same line with opponent’s defenders and once he is even half step across them, he raises his leg and scores the way and manner Yekini was scoring then. Rohr’s eyes must be on this lad because he has great role to play in the present Eagles.

As we continue to keep eye on this subject matter, things are not looking up in other sports also. If it is not the athletics federation and Sports Minister, it will be athletes flexing muscles about the recent palliatives’ that patriotic Nigerians out of their usual good spirit gave out to share to elite athletes and some other categories. There is  much going underground as vividly captured by the vocal and one time executive committee member of the NFF, Gara Gombe in a press statement he released last  week and made available to Daily Sports.

Having thoroughly gone through the very informative statement, I decided to relay it here for the larger followership cum audience, so as to allow for proper judgment. Gara Gombe is known for his fearless stance and hates blowing hot air. That is, he does not say or venture into whatever he is not sure of and you dare not go near him with rumours because he likes dealing with facts and figures. Enjoy these tips and trips, all free for the delight of you, our dear readers

‘AGAIN MONEY TEARS ATHLETICS FAMILY APART’

According to him, it is a shame when we are always in the news for the wrong reasons. Again, this time around it is about money:

The whole situation could have been managed well if there is SINCERITY OF PURPOSE, HONESTY AND TRANSPARENCY.  I can put the whole problem at the door step of the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, SUNDAY DARE and his Special Adviser (S.A), Mary Onyali- Omagbemi, an e-international.

It is a Cycle of Conspiracy, Confusion, Deceits and Hypocrisy which have eaten so deep. SOME PEOPLE WORSHIP MONEY.THEIR FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD god is MONEY. That is why they remain POOR and never will they be content. Some peoples’ names only come up when money is mentioned. When can we be quarreling over infrastructural deficit, training and development, National athletics Development Agenda etc but only Money?

The newest Needless crisis is where some people, from the Minister to AFN etc were so desperate to share the money meant for athletes’ support. So many mysteries and contradictions you may say. The S.A to the Minister said the initiative was due to calls and SMS the Minister and she received from athletes. Himma Charles in his version said he was asked to draw a list. By who? Who asked him? Mary Onyali- Omagbemi also did not tell us who are those that send SMS to her and the Minister, that they are so cheap that $150,000(150 Dollars) is what makes them happy as Olympic bound athletes?

Onyali-Omagbemi claimed that two people donated N10m and N300,000 respectively. That is a lie. The Ministry, the Permanent Secretary and Mary did not tell us exactly how much they collected under the guise of COVID 19.  I am aware they have written letters to so many organisations asking for money on behalf of Nigerian Athletes.

On GEORGE, the Acting AFN PRESIDENT and the TECHICAL DIRECTOR Brown Ebewele claiming they don’t know about the list and Disbursement is not true. GEORGE and BROWN are fully aware about the list .In fact; GEORGE served in a Committee that harmonised the list for almost two weeks. He wanted the money to be given to him to share.

Did Brown and George tell us how much EDO STATE GOVERNMENT Released to them for the Test Run of Facilities for the postponed National Sports Festival? About N40million was said to have been released. Did anyone ask Questions about this? BROWN bought a new car soon after the postponement.

So, now who is better, GUSAU or GEORGE?  Himmah Charles is a Hypocrite. He is fully aware of all that is happening but he goes behind the Minister, Behind GEORGE AND BROWN to Disclose all their plans and come back to claim Sainthood. What SOLOMON OGBA did to GUSAU is what CHARLES is doing to GEORGE.

The Drama is unfolding. Hypocrisy is the order of the day. I HAVE TWO AUDIO TAPES I WILL RELEASE SHORTLY SO THAT WE ALL MUST KNOW THE ENEMIES WITHIN AND OUTSIDE. For those taking Sides, better hold on as More Revelations are Coming.

That is vintage Gara Gombe, the man that never talks on drop of hat; we are keenly waiting and watching for events to unfold. The last is yet to be heard as you will agree after reading Gara Gombe’s expose. Stay with this soar away digital newspaper as we are always on top of events.

Let us continue this discussion more on these vibrant issues and busy on our social media handles. Keep shooting hard till next week!!
