The Super Eagles of Nigeria has fallen by nine places in the July 2016 FIFA Rankings. The Super Eagles, who were 61st in the world and 13th place in Africa in June 2016, now occupies 70th place in the world and 16th in Africa.
This month’s rankings see Algeria, one of Nigeria’s foes in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, occupy 32nd place in the world and First in Africa. They are closely followed by Cote d’Ivoire, who is 35th on the world scale and 2nd in Africa and Ghana (36th in the World and 3rd in Africa). Other top Africans, according to the latest rankings include Senegal, Egypt, Tunisia, Cameroon, Morocco, Congo DR, Mali, Cape Verde Island, Guinea, South Africa, Benin Republic, Uganda and Congo.
Generally, Argentina remain in the number one spot in the FIFA rankings, with Belgium and Colombia following closely, while the UEFA EURO 2016 winners, Portugal leapfrog Spain and Brazil to occupy 6th place with silver medallist at the championship, France in 7th position. The biggest movers in the month’s rankings are the New Zealand, moving up by 54 places to 93rd position on the back of an OFC Nations Cup victory that qualified them for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
