For Delta State teams campaigning in both the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) and Nigerian Nationwide League (NNL) it’s a tale of losses but they have vowed to bounce back powerfully.
Delta Force and Warri Wolves (NPFL) as well as Apex Krane and J Atete (NNL) all tasted defeat in their various league matches over the weekend.
Delta Force were beaten 1-3 at home even though they opened scoring.
Coach of Delta Force, Mangut Mbwas, attributed the defeat to the loss of focus by the goalkeeper.
He said: “I am amazed over the cheap goals my goalkeeper conceded. No doubt, we have not been paid salaries for some time now but we are playing for our career, so that wouldn’t be the cause. We have more work to do against Nasarawa United.”
The game had promised to be difficult for the Ambassadors because the league leader Plateau United have been in an excellent form, yet to lose a single game after five matches.
Warri Wolves tasted their first defeat of the season with a narrow 0-1 loss to Rivers United at the Warri City Stadium.
Agbor-based Apex Krane FC could not prevent a nightmarish debut game in the NNL as the game ended 2-0 to hosts Dynamite Force.
Coach of Apex Krane, Tosan Blankson, commended Dynamite force for the victory.
“Congratulations to Dynamite force but this result is not a true reflection of the game. We will bounce back against Ibom youth,” he said.
On their part, J Atete lost 2-0 to Bendel Insurance at the Uniben Sports Complex.
This coming weekend, it will be three Delta teams against three Akwa Ibom teams as Warri Wolves will face Dakkada (Akwa Starlets), while Apex Krane and J. Atete host Ibom-Youth and Vandraiser respectively.
