Swimming: I’m Not Surprised Team Delta Retained CNS Tittle — Etoroma

By Maduabuchi Kalu on October 24, 2019

Honourable Ejiro Etoroma, former member of Delta State Sports Commission, has congratulated the state’s swimming team to the just-concluded 8th Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) National Open Championship which held at the swimming pool complex of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

He said he was not surprised that the state swimming team successfully resisted all the efforts of the Nigeria Police Swimming Team to topple them.

Etoroma explained that the exploits of Delta State in the country’s sports is not by accident but the result of the huge investment the State Government has continued to make in the industry over the years.

He further explained that Delta State has since realised the need to use sports as a means of employment, job creation and taking the youths out the streets by engaging them in meaningful activities.

His words: “Well, I will not be telling myself the truth if I say that I am surprised that Delta retained its premier position at the just-concluded annual Chief of Naval Staff Open Swimming Championship which held at swimming pool complex of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. I say so because the state over the years, has invested a lot of resources in sports.

“I, therefore, want to use this medium to congratulate the state swimming team on their success at the 8th Chief Naval Staff National Open Swimming Championship.”
