By Obaseki Anthony, Asaba on September 18, 2019

Kwara United and Niger Tornadoes have booked their semi-final tickets at the on-going Governor Okowa Pre-Season Tournament holding in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The Ilorin outfit advanced to next round of the tourney after claiming a 2-1 win over 10-man Lobi Stars in one of the games played Tuesday afternoon at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Austin Ogunye fired Lobi Stars in front before Thomas Adesina levelled matters for Kwara United from the penalty spot.

Substitute Ebenezer Odeyemi scored the winning goal of the game at injury time as the Harmony Boys marched on.

Lobi Stars topped Group B with nine points, followed by Kwara United who picked seven points.

Abia Warriors fell short despite their impressive 2-0 win over MFM FC.

Guy Keumian and petit Amos Ogbuagu found the back of the net for the Umuahia Warriors.

Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes completed the four semi-finalists as they pipped Delta Force by a lone goal in their final group game.

Head Coach of Niger Tornadoes, Abubakar Bala, who was elated that his side sailed through a difficult Delta Force hurdle, said the team would improve on their performance in the semi-finals.

His counterpart at Delta Force, Mbwas Ayuba Magnut, said the positives of the tournament were achieved as it has afforded his team to test new legs ahead of the new league season.

The first semi-final of the tournament will get underway today, Wednesday, as Lobi Stars take on Niger Tornadoes at 2pm, while the second semi-finals will be between Rivers United and Kwara United.
