Chairman, Niger Tornadoes Management Committee, Hon. Adamu Aliyu, attended the team’s evening training session at the Bako Kontagora Stadium Minna on Wednesday.
While addressing the players, especially the newly recruited ones, the Aliyu expressed satisfaction with the level of high profile signings, attributing it to the track record and pedigree of the club’s Technical Adviser, Coach Abubakar Bala Mohammed. He noted that it has been a while Tornadoes assembled such high caliber players.
Hon. Aliyu said that the management is aware of the herculean task of playing continental matches hence the need for all hands to be on deck in order to achieve the desired target. He assured that management is doing everything possible to ensure that the players enjoy the benefits due to them, while promising to provide a befitting accommodation for players.
The Tornadoes Chairman urged the players to be well behaved and see themselves as professionals so that the younger generation would learn from them and also earn a living from playing the round leather game.
He disclosed that the management is into negotiations with Nigerian international John Obi Mikel for a relationship with his football academy, as part of efforts to make Niger Tornadoes a brand, in order to be able to attract sponsors, like other big clubs in the country.
While commending the players for their spirited performance in the Aiteo Cup finals in Kaduna over the weekend, Hon. Aliyu assured that the management would fulfill its earlier pledge of N500,000 for each goal scored and N100,000 for the goal scorer in spite of the loss to eventual champions Kano Pillars. He recalled that three penalties were converted, which amounts to N1.5 million, while penalty scorers, Eric Frimpong, Dosso Saib and Obinna Jacob would be rewarded for their goals.
Responding, Team Captain Mustapha Aliko, acknowledged the important role the management has played in terms of moral and financial support since its assumption office. He assured that the players remain ever committed to give their all at every given time.
