Nigeria Customs Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) teams are currently unbeaten after the end of Day 3 at the ongoing 2019 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League in Asaba.
NSCDC men’s team came from a set down to beat Plateau Rocks 3-1 (15-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-22), while Nigeria Customs Service men’s volleyball team survived a scarce from Nigeria Police Force in a tense match which finished 3-2 (31-29, 23-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-12) at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Stephen Keshi International Stadium.
Delta Force women’s volleyball team suffered two defeats from Nigeria Customs Service 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-11) and NSCDC 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-05)
The star match of day was between Nigeria Army aka COAS Spikers and Nigeria Immigrations Service in the women’s category.
COAS Spikers fought hard to steal the show from Nigeria Immigrations 3-2 (14-25, 25-16, 27-29, 26-24, 15-7).
The head coach of COAS Spikers, Elishma Elam, commended his players for not giving up despite the threats from Immigrations.
He said: “I am the most happiest man in the league because my girls gave me joy. They played their best against an experienced Immigrations but were not intimidated.
“Our next match is against Nigeria Customs Service. We will not be intimidated by them; they have good players and pedigree but my girls will give them a good fight.”
