BJ Foundation Beats Eagles Wings to Win 1st Edition of Mikel Agu Cup, Rockers Finish 3rd

By Daily Sports on June 25, 2019

Benin City witnessed exciting matches from grassroots clubs for 5 days culminating in a hotly contested final match on Saturday 22 in the just-ended Mikel Agu-sponsored invitational tournament.

In the final game played at Arinze primary school field in Benin City, BJ Foundation further cemented their status as top grassroots side in Benin as they saw off hard-fighting Eagles Wings FC 3-1.

BJ scored the opening goal through defender Chinaka’s freekick but Eagles Wings equalised to leave the first half in a stalemate.

BJ however upped the tempo with their physically aggressive game and two further goals from Raymond and Innocent ensured that BJ won the competition sponsored by their former player and now Porto and Super Eagles star Mikel Agu.

Rockers FC came 3rd when the beat former Edo FA Cup champions Ine Stars 2-1 in a pulsating 3rd place match earlier on Saturday morning.

Rockers were trailing 0-1 in the first half but their young super sub Isaac Justice turned the game around for his club by scoring a double to win the game for the 2018 Bet9ja Super Agents Cup champions.

The third place and final matches of the Mikel Agu Cup was watched by the new Edo State FA Chairman Henry Asemota.
