Cameroon captain Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has extended his stay with Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

The 31-year-old forward was set to leave the French champions when his contract with the club expired on 30 June 2020.

However, Choupo-Moting will now stay with PSG until the end of the current season with the team set to take part in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

The nine-time Ligue 1 champions released the following statement:

“The club is pleased to announce that Thiago Silva, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Sergio Rico have extended their contracts until the end of the season.

“The Brazilian defender, the Cameroon striker and the Spanish goalkeeper will therefore be available for the Coupe de France final against Saint-Etienne on 24 July and the Coupe de la Ligue final against Lyon on 31 July, with both games at the Stade de France.”

“The three players will also be eligible for the final rounds of the Champions League, organized by UEFA in Lisbon from 12 to 23 August.”

“The 35-year-old Thiago Silva has made 310 appearances in all competitions since arriving at Paris Saint-Germain in 2012, scoring 17 goals.”

“Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, 31, has worn the Rouge & Bleu on 48 occasions and notched 8 goals since signing in 2018.”

“26-year-old Sergio Rico has made 8 appearances between the sticks for Paris Saint-Germain since his August 2019 loan from Sevilla FC.”

“The club is delighted with the three players’ contract extensions and wishes them a successful end to the season with Paris Saint-Germain,” a club statement read. (African Football)
