National Chairman of Nigeria Eagles Football Supporters Club (NEFSC), Prince Vincent Okumagba, has congratulated Senators-elect Joseph Obinna Ogba and Patrick Ifeanyichukwu Uba for their victory into the Upper Legislative Chamber at the National Assembly election held on February 9, 2019.

In an exclusive conversation with Daily Sports, he restated the gains likely to come to football by the election of the duo, whom he said have contributed resources, managerial and otherwise, to the growth of the game in their various states and at the national level.

“Let me recall that Obinna Ogba was in the NFF for years where we all can readily attest to his hard work in his years’ insightful contributions and robust debates as the executive committee member which was geared towards the development of football and which has remained evergreen on the marble. He has carried such assiduousness to the green chambers all for the good of the game. Obinna Ogba has a secured place in the history of the country’s football,” Okumagba said.

According to him, Senator Ogba has not hidden his zeal to get legislations that would benefit Nigerian football and push it to meet the best global practices as obtained in football-developed countries. He added that Ogba’s loyalty to football has never been hidden “and so he will continue doing his best for the most beautiful sport in the world which has vowed to.”

On Ifeanyichukwu Uba, the Supporters Club boss described the Senator-elect as one with the heart of gold who has been rewarded handsomely by his people to represent them at the Upper House. He pointed out that how the oil mogul won election into the Senate was as a result of hard work and diligent acumen which he described as the major characteristic of Uba.

“Uba we all can vividly say has shown doggedness and depth interest in the game that he has used his NPFL elite football Club FC Ifeanyi Uba to touch lives especially the youths to promote unity and lives hence he has been rewarded same. As the Chairman of Anambra State Football Association for years and his FC has stood firm competing strongly in the yearly championship thus far. Uba has shown leadership and would be always be associated with on that has developed this game which brought fame to his name,” Okumagba insisted.

The Delta State-born number one football supporter recalled that it is on record that FC Ifeanyichukwu Uba is the longest serving individual sponsoring a club in the elite football league in the country which Okumagba noted is not small fate and must be thumbed up.  He has shown great example of great investor who has the overall interest of the game, the players, coaches and others in heart in time like this, Okumagba further informed Daily Sports online.

He believes that Uba would no doubt join forces with men and women of good will to promote legislations that would give football great and progress boast in the land. He pointed that Uba is a loyal and confirmed apostle of the game and his election into the Upper House would be in favour of football in the country.

The NSEFC chief urged both distinguished Senators to work together as one and then with enthusiasts of the game to move and bring laws that would give Nigerian football new lease of life and make if more viable and destination choice in not only the continent but also the world at large.

“Let me once again hail this duo that never in the history of the football that two great disciples found themselves at the same time in Upper Legislative Chamber of Nigeria as unprecedented as this is, there would be no reason why this would not only mark the fineness hour for football and sports in general but also as watershed for all. He wished them well as they journey into bringing laws that would give football new face to bear, I hail them big time,” he said.
