The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has congratulated the management and players of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba for emerging champions of the 2015 Nigeria Glo Premier League after Sunday’s goalless draw with Sunshine Stars of Akure at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, and making history as the first clubside to win the league trophy for a record seven times.
The governor dedicated the victory to all Abians.
He expressed happiness over the achievements of Enyimba, which has brought glory to the state. He thanked the management and players for being great ambassadors of the state, adding that by the feat the team has confirmed that Abia remains Nigeria’s soccer power house.
The governor used the occasion to reaffirm the commitment of his administration to youth and sports development, noting that Abia is home to great talents and potentials in all works of life which he has set out to develop and expose to the world.
He promised to give the Enyimba maximum support and all necessary incentives to enable them perform well in their CAF Champions League campaign next year.
