E-X-C-L-U-S-I-V-E: FG’s plots To Intimidate Amaju Pinnick Out of September 20 NFF Election Heighten

By VICTOR ENYINNAYA on September 7, 2018

Except again there comes the hand of God, Federal Government’s consistent maneuvers to prevent Amaju Pinnick, the incumbent supremo of Nigeria’s football governing body, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) from contesting the September 20 NFF Presidency may succeed as its arrowhead, the Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung and his foot soldiers are at work with spirited misinformation of hate against Amaju’s candidacy.

Dailysportsng.com can now authoritatively reveal that plans are afoot to create such confusion to enable the federal government to ensure that its puppets mount the saddle as president and executive committee members.

The grand plan to line up other government-sponsored candidates as some individuals penciled down for disqualification is a mere gimmick to deceive the unsuspecting public and fans of the game to look as if its action is real, while in actual fact, it is wholly targeted at Amaju, Daily Sports was told reliably.

Daily Sports further gathered exclusively from a usual credible source that pleaded anonymity that the government has not relented in its spirited move to sack Amaju Pinnick and most of his executive committee members from office no matter what it will entail but wants to do it in such a manner that would not provoke FIFA’s hammer on the country.

The dependable source revealed that the plan of the government through its agent is to get rid of Amaju Pinnick, perceived as a non-conformist and arrogant to the government, out of the country’s football governing house through what the source described as ‘Motor Park like diplomacy’ but veiled to deceive FIFA.

The source said why the first attempt hit the rocks was due to the Minister’s fake confidence that he would convince FIFA only for FIFA to lock him out and insisted it does not discuss football matters with any member country’s government except the affiliate football President.

According to the source, the government has since been unsettled hence Solomon Dalung’s continuous raging which is widely believed to represent the position of the government that has stamped his unguarded outbursts so far.

The government, our reliable source said has been weighing many options on the way forward to ensure that the Delta State born football administrator, who is regarded as not a member of the ruling party will clinically ease out as it was claimed that he has no place in the government agency as far as this dispensation is concerned. Dailysportsng.com learnt that a certain bigwig in the present executive committee was approached to be the sponsor to contest against Amaju Pinnick or be used to divide the rank and file of the regime but the man tactically declined, citing that his conscience would never allow him to rest all through his life and so begged he be left out of the act.

However, as at the time of filing this report, the government and its agents appear to be in dilemma on how to clinically stop Amaju and his loyalists to pave way for their party members to occupy NFF but the fear of what FIFA’s reaction would be has remained their albatross.

A source within Dalung’s circle was quoted to have said that if Amaju is slammed with corruption charges and EFCC sent after him and his loyalists it might work as the usage of courts in recent past failed woefully. The plans and counter-plans on how to cage out rightly or outwit Amaju from returning to football house after the September 20, polls continue to rage.

It would be recalled that the 2018 NFF Electoral Committee chairman recently came out publicly to debunk news making rounds on plans being afoot to disqualify Amaju, Maigari and few others. But Solomon Dalung’s Sports Ministry just declared that the September 20, election is illegal which has left keen watchers and analysts of the football house wondering where the Minister is drawing his powers from.

But a former NFF President who doesn’t want his name on print added that the hide and seek game from the government won’t make any impact as FIFA has first-hand information on how the government of the day is bent on interfering with football matters.

“Let me inform Nigerians and fans of this game that FIFA is on top of the situation in the country and there should be no cause for alarm. The Sports Minister is just ranting and at the end of the day, Dalung would kiss the dust like his first mission impossible to break the ranks of FIFA. FIFA would only stand on free, fair and credible polls and not the way and manner Nigeria conducts her national elections of late,” the highly placed former helmsman of the body insists.
