Arsenal are in talks with Switzerland right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner over a contract, Sky Sports News understands.

The 34-year-old is set to leave Juventus after seven years when his deal with the Serie A champions expires at the end of next month.

New Gunners boss Unai Emery is understood to be a long-term admirer of the player, who could become his first signing since suceeding Arsene Wenger.

Lichtsteiner is set to captain Switzerland at the World Cup in Russia.

Lichtsteiner is a veteran defender set to captain Switzerland at the World Cup and take his international caps to over 100.

Lichtsteiner has won seven Serie A titles, four Coppa Italias and three Italian Super Cups after joining the club from Lazio in 2011.

He began his senior career with Grasshopper Zurich before a three-year spell with Lille, and then joined Lazio in 2008 where he also won two Italian cups. (Sky Sports)
