Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has heaped plaudits on in-form striker, Victor Boniface, following his blistering start to his career at the club.
Boniface joined Die Werkself from Belgian Pro League outfit Union Saint Gilloise in the summer and quickly settled in at the Bundesliga outfit.
The striker has so far registered 14 goals and seven assists in 21 appearances across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen — a form which shocked the former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid midfielder.
“We could not be certain that the players would perform so well straightaway,” Alonso told a press conference.
“With Victor (Boniface), he is still very young, maybe we didn’t expect this so quickly from him.
“But obviously, we are also very pleased that he has made such a good impact as well.”
