• Egbele hails Nwali For Winning Africa Championship
Adekoyejo Adegbesan has been elected as the President of the Pan Africa Scrabble Association (PANASA) in an electoral contest held at the just concluded Africa Scrabble Championship in Lusaka, Zambia.
Adegbesan, a Nigerian scrabble star, defeated the incumbent president of the Pan African Scrabble Association, Muhammed Kamara, by 9 votes to 1.
The ‘Sheikh’ as he is called, is currently the chairman of the Ogun State Scrabble Association (OSSA). He will take charge of running the affairs of the continental body for two years.
Since he took charge of scrabble in Ogun state, there has been a major transformation in the sport. His club, Airpop Alpha, recently claimed the 2022 Mindgames Scrabble Premier League (MSPL) title.
Adegbesan also runs an all-female scrabble club, Airpop Falcons.
Meanwhile, the convener of the Emmanuel Egbele Annual Scrabble Tournament (EEAST), Emmanuel Egbele, has commended Enoch Nwali for winning the 14th African Scrabble Championship, which was concluded in Zambia during the week.
Egbele said that Nwali, who also won this year’s EEAST Championship in June, has proven that the tournament was a good preparatory ground to expose talents in scrabble.
Egbele also commended Team Nigeria for the overall success recorded at the African Scrabble Championship, where the country won a record 13th title.
The South-west zonal coordinator of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation appreciated the scrabble community and the Nigeria Scrabble Federation board for organising scrabble championships this year to keep players focused on the sport.
