The 27-year-old has been on Man City’s books since 2017 when he joined from AS Monaco.
Since then, Silva has played a key role in Manchester City dominating the English game, especially in 2018/19 when the Portuguese was arguably in the best form of his career as City notched a century of points in the Premier League.
However, even though Man City have continued to be the pinnacle of English football, Silva did look to be eyeing an exit this past summer.
Speaking back in the summer of 2021, Pep Guardiola confirmed that Silva was one of several players looking to leave the club:
“He’s our player,” Guardiola said. “Not just Bernardo, there are two, three or four players that want to leave but they are our players under contract and when they bring some offer and their agents come here and they want to leave we are open to discuss absolutely everything but it depends on them.”
No exit was forthcoming for Silva, though, and he has since gone on to impress across the course of the 2021/22 campaign to date.
But as we head towards the 2022 summer window, Silva has dropped a massive hint over his future.
And whilst he does not look to be eyeing an exit in the upcoming window, Silva did state that he misses Portugal a lot and would go back in a year or two if he could: “I miss Portugal a lot.
“If I could go back in a year or two, I would. Not only because I would like to play for Benfica again, but because I miss my family and living in Portugal very much.”
Bernardo Silva is currently under contract at the Etihad until 2025.
