In a duel of former champions, Enyimba International extended their unbeaten run to six matches after forcing hosts, Kano Pillars to a 1-1 draw in a Matchday 9 fixture on Sunday evening.
But Kano Pillars head coach, Ibrahim Musa whose side are also on a stretch of six-game unbeaten run attributed the goalless scoreline to hard luck.
Musa told npfl.com after the match that though Enyimba are a good side, the failure of his players to convert their chances and the good goalkeeping of Fatau Dauda denied them victory.
“We were not just lucky, the players played their best but mother luck did not smile at us. I must commend my players for the effort, and we have forgot about the match. Our target now is going to Enugu to rediscover ourselves.
“I am sure with good officiating as we witnessed, we can beat Rangers in Enugu and recover the two points we dropped but I admit Enyimba is a good side. I am however not just happy with the unnecessary delay tactics they employed in the second half, well that is football for you,” Musa said.
He remained optimistic that the team will stay focused in their quest to excel in the league campaign this season, noting that he is confident that his players have what it takes to challenge for the title.
Enyimba head coach, Paul Aigbogun said he is happy to have picked a point from the game which he described as a tough one.
“I thank God for the result and I am happy because picking a point here is vital to our campaign in the league. Pillars is a big team and they played their best and my players were able to curtail them,” Aigbogun said.
