CHAN list: Sikiru Olatunbosun, Eduwo dropped

By Daily Sports on January 3, 2018

MFM FC winger Sikiru Olatunbosun and striker Kingsley Eduwo from Lobi Stars were the major omissions from the home-based Super Eagles final squad to CHAN 2018 in Morocco.

SCORENigeria first reported that Olatunbosun and Eduwo could make way for fresh invitees like Nura Mohammed and Sunday Faleye, who have impressed in training camp in Abuja.

Olatunbosun famously won the CNN Goal of the Week last season and has been capped by the main Super Eagles, while Eduwo scored the goal that qualified Nigeria to the CHAN.

Otherwise, coach Salisu Yusuf have kept faith with the core of the team to the WAFU Cup in Ghana – goalkeepers Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Ajiboye, Osas Okoro, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Stephen Eze, Anthony Okpotu, Peter Eneji and Okechukwu Gabriel.

The team of 23 players and their officials are expected to fly out of the country in a few days, to continue preparations in Morocco ahead of Nigeria’s first match of the campaign against Rwanda in Tangier on Monday, 15th January.
