Arsenal: Iwobi negotiates contract extension

By Daily Sports on December 19, 2017

Arsenal are currently in talks with Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi about a new contract despite him only signing a deal last year.

The Gunners are desperate to agree a new deal with Iwobi before he leaves for the World Cup in Russia with the Super Eagles next summer.

The 21-year-old will have another three years left on his current deal at the end of the current campaign.

According to SunSport, talks have begun between the club and player’s representatives, but there is still some way to go before a new long-term deal is agreed.

The Sun claims Iwobi signed a five-year deal worth £30,000-a-week in October 2016, but any fresh terms have to reflect his progress made in the last 12 months.

The youngster made his debut in 2015 and made 21 appearances, scoring two goals.

He has made 15 appearances for Arsenal this term and scored the crucial goal for the Eagles in their 1-0 win against Zambia in October which clinched the 2018 FIFA World Cup ticket.
